"Yamada Store Shin-Aoyama" by KTX archiLAB & MatsuyaAW

Design concept

The owner had an image of creating a bright store like a street market in Europe, and isntalled glass for the top lights and front façade to let in as much natural light as possible.

Normal glass exposes vegetables and other perishables to too much direct sunlight and curtains or blinds darken the space, not to mention cleaning and manually raising the window coverings becoming an extra chore for busy staff.

To avoid these issues, LC MAGIC teams up with a solar sensor to provide flexible liquid crystal control over transparency and brightness - the perfect pairing for happy staff and produce!
