Total Quality Assurance
Aiming to be a company worthy of ongoing customer trust, Toppan treats Total Quality Assurance with the greatest importance. At every stage from marketing, R&D and planning, to design, production, sales and delivery, we guarantee the highest quality, so that we can provide customers with reasonably priced products of consistent quality that meet safety and functionality standards and are delivered on time. Through quality-improvement measures like ISO-based quality audits, our own TPM activities, plant inspections by top management, and process management using IC tags, Toppan makes every effort to create “dedicated products.”
Promotion of TPM Activities
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities bring structural improvement and enhance competitiveness in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and other factors by altering the deployment of facilities and people in production systems to achieve zero production losses. Through TPM, we design efficient production systems that eliminate or reduce overreaching, irregularity, and waste in the use of human resources, materials, facilities, and information. In our own customized version of TPM implemented at all of our plants, we fuse IE (industrial engineering) activities focused on productivity improvements with quality assurance based mainly on ISO 9000 series standards.
Total Quality Assurance through Comprehensive Plant Optimization and Standardization
As the globalization of business and the spread of high-speed Internet and other infrastructure have opened the door to detailed exchanges of data among manufacturing facilities, regardless of location, the need for technology that standardizes quality across all manufacturing facilities has grown. Toppan, therefore, has recently established Toppan Communication Products, Toppan Packaging Products, and Toppan Electronics Products to serve the needs for manufacturing in the information and networks, living environment, and electronics sectors, respectively. This step will make it possible to centrally manage plants throughout Japan according to business sector, share quality practices, facilities, and expertise, exchange personnel resources, optimize production locations, and improve flows between plants. Production activities optimized in these ways are expected to result in a stronger overall product quality assurance system.
Enhancement of Our Ability to Make Things
At Toppan, the delivery of “dedicated products” to customers makes enhancement of our ability to make things a critical theme. We act on that theme by centrally managing manufacturing in all group companies while the Manufacturing Technology Center takes the lead in activities to improve production technology.
