CSR at Toppan

TOPPAN VISION 21 has been established as the basic conceptual framework and guide for activities targeting continuous growth in harmony with society and the global environment. We undertake corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities as part of our efforts to achieve the ideal Corporate Structure set out in TOPPAN VISION 21.

Ideal Corporate Structure at Toppan

Toppan established TOPPAN VISION 21 as the basic conceptual framework and guide for activities targeting continuous growth in harmony with society and the global environment. TOPPAN VISION 21 consists of the Corporate Structure and Business Fields. The Corporate Structure sets out the values and concepts that we should place importance on and the ideal that we should aim for. We believe that by striving to achieve this ideal Corporate Structure, we contribute to sustainable growth for both Toppan and society as a whole.

CSR Activities

CSR activities are an important part of efforts to achieve the Corporate Structure. This is because activities that integrate the expectations of society into business are essential to ensure that a company can grow in harmony with society and the global environment. Toppan promotes CSR in accordance with ISO 26000 Guidance on Social Responsibility, an international standard formulated through consensus of diverse stakeholders and a wide range of institutions and organizations across the globe. This standard is taken to represent the expectations of modern society.

ISO 26000 provides guidance on what social responsibility is and how it should be addressed, and can be adopted by all organizations regardless of their size or industry. In addition, unlike other standards on quality or environmental management, this standard is not certified by a third party, rather it focuses on stakeholder opinion.

Toppan promotes CSR activities in line with the seven core subjects of social responsibility defined in ISO 26000 and discloses the results via the CSR report.

Dialogue with Stakeholders

Toppan has recognized categories of stakeholders who have a significant impact on or could be affected by its business operations as customers (client companies and consumers), business partners, communities, shareholders and investors, and employees. Striving to promote CSR activities that satisfy all stakeholders, Toppan attaches great importance on dialogue with stakeholders and reflects their opinions in business activities.

Participation in the United Nations Global Compact

In September 2006, Toppan announced its participation in the Global Compact established by the United Nations. With our participation in this international framework, we support and acknowledge the importance of the initiative’s ten principles regarding human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, and promote measures relating to these matters.
