Labor Practices

Toppan values its employees as precious company assets, as “human assets,” and recognizes how deeply it depends on them. From this perspective, the Company supports the motivated, vigorous, and earnest work of the Toppan workforce.

Our "Human Assets"

Toppan values its employees as precious company assets, as “human assets,” and recognizes how deeply it depends on them. From this perspective, the Company supports the motivated, vigorous, and earnest work of the Toppan workforce.

The Company keenly understands the importance of the motivation to take on new challenges, the drive to work vigorously with a healthy body and mind, and an earnest commitment to follow through on tasks to completion. When employees are vigorous, earnest, and have strong motivation, Toppan is convinced that they show their true abilities to the full.

Labor-Management Partnership

As partners with shared ideals, Toppan’s labor union and management have trust in each other and respect for each other’s stances. They stand on equal footing and cooperate to resolve issues.

Business councils are convened to discuss managerial issues, and special committees are formed to deliberate individual issues such as work hour reduction, wages, welfare benefits, and safety and hygiene. Toppan has adopted a union shop system and all non-managerial employees belong to the labor union.

Supporting Work-Life Balance

We strive to create a work environment in which each individual achieves a better work-life balance and is able to perform tasks with a positive attitude. Typical initiatives include reducing extended overtime work, regulating working hours and establishing and maintaining work systems for employees raising children or caring for other people.

Occupational safety and health, and the promotion of health maintenance

With the aim of eliminating occupational accidents, we engage in activities based on company-wide health and safety policies. Each operational site has a health and safety committee which conducts workplace and facility inspections, implements training, and calls attention to problem areas in hopes of preventing occupational accidents. We established the Anzen Dojo, a safety training facility at our Saitama operational site.

Toppan also provides both physical and mental health checkups with the goal of maintaining and enhancing employee health, and offers Art Salon, a program designed to help employees refresh themselves through artistic expression.

Developing and Fostering Human Assets

Toppan aims to foster human assets with ambition and integrity with the aim of contributing to society. Specific measures include a rank-based training program to increase employee understanding and awareness of their roles and responsibilities at every level. In addition, Toppan provides employees with systematic training to improve capabilities and skills required for each workplace.

To enhance the value of products and services through emergence, we hold inter-industry exchange events and offer networking programs for female employees as a means of building networks and promoting communication.
