The implementation of the Act Concerning Protection of Personal Information and other factors have resulted in demand for ever-more sophisticated information security technology. In Securities and Cards, we employ the most advanced counterfeit prevention and information management technology to provide comprehensive support for a full range of services covering planning and design to issuance and usage of security certificates and all manner of cards. Through this segment, we are now actively pursuing three business areas: IC solutions, information management and operation services, and security devices.
In the IC solutions business, we offer comprehensive services including application and system development and data management, based on our own IC cards and tags, which are highly effective in preventing unauthorized use.
With broad success in products like public transportation IC tickets, electronic money, IC bank cards, and event tickets incorporating IC chips, we have become the leading company in this business. In information management and operation services, we are providing services like communication operation support from the perspective of our customers and the people they serve. We do this based on information processing technology for purposes such as editing and processing customer data and managing databases. The services we provide through this business-in particular, administration of projects like marketing promotion campaigns in the financial and other industries, and consulting for personal information protection and other information security matters-have contributed much in helping customers resolve significant issues. Security devices are another business we are involved in and here we develop and sell holograms and other new security media for brand authentication and counterfeit prevention.
