The publishing industry is presently facing a time of significant change. New styles of magazines are being published, there has been an upsurge in the use of DVD and other high-value-added supplements, business development is spreading to overseas locations, and new IT-based business development efforts are taking place all in an effort to respond to reader needs and social developments.
In Publications Printing, we do much more than producing publications across a broad array of genres. We perform specialized book creation and binding, engage in supplement planning and other forms of promotion work, produce DVDs, proposead campaigns and act as an advertising agency, participate in alliances applying publishers' assets, offer proposals starting at the publication planning phase, broker publication rights agreements and support overseas business development, and provide services supporting mail-order businesses by taking advantage of the strengths of paper media, digital magazines, and tie-ups with magazines. Through these and other services, we are supporting the creation of new businesses.
Toppan was the first in the industry to embrace editing optimization and the new DTP-based workflow. We have accumulated a wealth of expertise in planning, editing, and design, which we use for making proposals related to the production of magazines and other publications. And for books, as well as magazines, we work with customers to produce publications with the compositional and binding beauty they seek, and propose magazine production flows with an eye toward cross-media content development.
