Awarded for : Microwave packaging for Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's grilled fish pack. Created by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Toppan Printing Co., Ltd.
The award was received in recognition of the convenience and safety of being able to easily prepare grilled fish using a microwave oven due to the use of a heat generating sheet called a “susceptor” developed by Toppan Printing.

Printing became an official discipline at the previous competition held in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The Japanese representative in the category was selected from Toppan Printing for two consecutive competitions. Fourteen countries competed and this was the first gold medal in the printing category for a Japanese competitor.

Awarded for : 1,000g eco-packs for Honen Ichiban-shibori Kyanora-yu (first press canola oil), jointly developed with J-Oil Mills, Inc.
The eco-pack is a food oil package consisting of an inner bag and outer box, both recyclable after separation. A finger hole makes handling easier, and soy-ink and water-based high-gloss varnish raise the eco-friendliness and commercial value.
