for fixed asset management and inventory count support software "Convi.BASE" from Netreqs
"Auto ID Library", an input/output device control tool for automatic identification systems from Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (hereafter Toppan Printing; head office: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shingo Kaneko), has been adopted for "Convi.BASE(*)" fixed asset management and inventory count support software offered by Netreqs Co., Ltd. (hereafter Netreqs: head office: Koto Ward, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazutaka Sato). From mid-September Convi.BASE will offer an IC tag-based fixed asset management option that has now been made possible.
The Auto ID Library is a device control tool with which it is possible to use a common interface to control input devices such as IC tag and barcode reader/writers and infrared sensors, as well as output devices such as indication lights. By introducing Auto ID Library, it becomes simple to perform operations such as adding the latest model of a device and using it together with the device currently being used without having to be concerned about differences in the development specifications of the devices. It is also easy to switch from a barcode reader to a new IC tag reader/writer for the automatic identification device, or change from one company’s model to a different company’s model for the barcode reader.
Due to the adoption of the Auto ID Library, with Convi.BASE it will be possible to provide support for fixed asset management and inventory count using automatic identification system devices such as the major IC tag reader/writers in Japan. It will be possible to add or switch automatic identification system devices at a low cost and in a short time without the large-scale system upgrading that has been necessary for adding new devices in the past.

Convi.BASE is a piece of fixed asset management and inventory count support software that has been used by over 200 companies. It primarily uses barcode labels in providing a service to support companies’ fixed asset management and inventory count. With this software, the workload and time required to read every attached barcode have been an issue, and there has been a need for a solution that uses UHF band IC tags that have a long communication distance and make bulk reading of multiple tags possible. However, in order to add automatic identification devices to Convi.BASE, a significant system upgrade cost has been necessary and a service has only been possible using specific models.
In collaboration with Netreqs, Toppan Printing will increase the variety of devices compatible with IC tags and develop highly user-friendly applications. Toppan Printing will use the know-how it has accumulated in the effective use of IC tags, together with the Auto ID Library tool, to develop options for Convi.BASE and enable IC tag compatibility at a low cost. Companies introducing Convi.BASE will be able to perform fixed asset management with a wider variety of options than before and in a broader variety of situations.
Toppan Printing will also propose Auto ID Library to a wide range of potential customers including companies using or considering the use of automatic identification systems, and system integrators.
Auto ID Library
The Auto ID Library is a device control tool offered by Toppan Printing with which it is possible to use a common interface to control input devices used in automatic identification systems such as IC tag and barcode reader/writers and infrared sensors, as well as output devices such as indication lights.
This is a revolutionary piece of fixed asset management and inventory count support software offered by Netreqs. It enables simple and accurate fixed asset management and inventory count operations using barcodes or IC tags, as well as the effective use of idle fixed assets and the control of excess investment. It is ideal for the whole range of fixed asset management including equipment, information recording media and machinery.
Target for Auto ID Library
We will make proposals to a wide range of potential customers including system integration companies and companies that are introducing automatic identification systems, and are aiming for 20 cases of adoption of the product in fiscal 2010.
*Convi.BASE will be displayed in the Toppan Group booth at Auto ID Expo 2010 (sponsored by the Japan Automatic Identification Systems Association), held at East Hall No.1 in the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center from September 15 (Wed) to 17 (Fri), 2010.
